Meet Guy. How you doin’?

Our son, Guy, was such an amazing individual. So many things come to mind: amazing, kind, sweet, hat and sunglasses, helpful, “those blue eyes”, TALL, funny, loner, handsome, quirky, responsible, loving, hard working caring, did I mention TALL? Everyone of those words and many others bring Guy to mind. Guy is, was and will always be those things. Guy’s name means “warrior” in French. Guy had to fight a learning disability, feelings and bullies his whole short life. He overcame many of these obstacles with the love and support of family and friends and hard work. He was a warrior in our eyes. The term “Warrior Up” comes from wanting to address bullying, learning disabilities and being different. We all need to Warrior Up for those who have trouble dealing with these issues to help others avoid this horrible tragedy.

My name is Jill and I lost my son to suicide in 2017.

Since losing Guy, I have been in therapy, on anti-depressants, haven’t been able to work and got an emotional support dog named Buttercup. My husband Mike and I often talk about the “missing chapters” in our son’s life – school, work, love, hardship, children, trials and tribulations. This blog is dedicated to those, the missing chapters of Guy’s life.

I also hope to reach other parents or friends of suicide victims – help them deal with the pain that will never go away and maybe encourage them to write their stories.
